Pruning at Randall Elementary School
Tree care is an essential aspect of maintaining healthy trees and promoting their growth. One such example of this is the recent pruning of fruit trees at Randall School by Tree House Arbor Science. The school's fruit trees were in need of an orchard prune, as they had grown too large to bear good fruit. Amy Rountree, a member of the school staff, reached out to the company for help.
Tom, one of the co-owners with Ryan and Joe, agreed to prune the three apple trees and one plum tree for free. Tom has a personal connection to the school, as all three of his children attended Randall School. This project provided an opportunity for him to give back to the school and the community.
Tree House staff Tom, Ryan, Isabelle, Sam, and Ulices arrived at the school to commence the pruning work. Their objective was to reduce the height of the trees, remove any dead wood, and get them back into Orchard form. Pruning is essential to maintaining healthy fruit trees, as it removes the old and diseased branches, encourages new growth, and helps the tree produce better fruit.
The team worked meticulously and skillfully, taking care to ensure that the trees were pruned correctly. Pruning fruit trees is not just about cutting off branches; it requires precision and expertise to maintain the tree's shape and structure. The team removed branches that were growing inward, crossed, or had diseases, which could hinder the tree's growth and fruit production, and reduced the height of the trees to work towards them being short enough to allow for easy picking from the ground.
Pruning the trees ensures that they remain healthy and productive, bearing fruit for years to come. Tom and his team promised to return every year through 2028 to optimize their form and maximize their ability to bear fruit.
Fruit trees are a valuable asset to any community, providing fresh and healthy fruit to people in the area. Schools, in particular, can benefit from having fruit trees on their property. Not only do they provide students with an opportunity to learn about nature and agriculture, but they also promote healthy eating habits.
The pruning of Randall School's fruit trees is an example of how local businesses can give back to the community. Tree House Arbor Science not only provided a valuable service to the school but also helped promote the importance of maintaining healthy trees. This project is an excellent example of how businesses can work with their community to promote environmental sustainability and support local schools.
Tree House Arbor Science's work in pruning the fruit trees at Randall School is a testament to the company's commitment to promoting healthy trees and giving back to the community.
